A França de hoje: entre o mito e a realidade

Abstract

No âmbito da Cultura e Civilização Francesas, este trabalho pretende analisar determinados aspectos da vida socio-cultural da França da actualidade. Procedemos então à análise de alguns dos mitos da França, estabelecendo um paralelo entre a realidade vivida com as imagens formadas pelos indivíduos e filtradas pela sua emotividade. Julgámos ainda oportuno dedicar alguma atenção às imagens que os portugueses construiram e constroem sobre a França, imagens veiculadas não só por uma elite cultural, mas também por uma fracção da sociedade menos favorecida, os emigrantes. E porque a cultura é indissociável da sociedade, procedemos também a uma análise das práticas culturais dos franceses, tendo em conta a tradição filosofico-cultural francesa e o papel fundamental dos intelectuais e a chamada cultura de massas. Na convicção de que os temas aqui abordados nunca poderão ser objecto de uma análise acabada, foi-nos possível concluir acerca do papel que a França pode ainda desempenhar no contexto mundial, no seio de uma Europa que pretende, a todo o custo, manter o seu estatuto privilegiado face a um mundo cada vez mais dominado pela hegemonia americana.

This essay has intended to analyse certain aspects of today’s Francês social and cultural life. The topic “Today’s France: from the myth to the reality,” is related to French culture and civilisation. We analysed some of today’s France’s myths comparing the reality to the images people create due to their emotiveness. We also thought it would be suitable to dedicate some attention to the images of France the Portuguese built and are building up. These images are not only conveyed by a cultural elite, but also by an ill-favoured part of the society - the emigrants. As it’s not possible to separate culture and society, we also made an analysis of the cultural practices of the French, having in mind the philosophical and cultural French tradition and the fundamental role of the intellectuals and the so-called mass’s knowledge. Being convinced that we can never put an end to the subject of this essay, we thought about the role France can still accomplish in the world’s context, in an Europe that wants by all means, to keep its prerogative, seeming to forget that United States of América are each time conquering more and more power and status.

Avec ce travail nous avons voulu analyser certains aspects de la vie socio-culturelle de la France de 1’actualité: son thème s’inscrit donc dans le domaine de la Culture et Civilisation Françaises. Nous avons ainsi analysé certains mythes de la France d’aujourd’hui, établissant une comparaison entre la réalité vécue et les images figées, filtrées par 1’émotion de chacun. Nous nous sommes attachés aux images que les Portugais se sont faites de la France et qui sont difíusées soit par 1’élite intellectuelle, soit par les populations migrantes. Finalement, la société allant de pair avec la culture, nous avons aussi réfléchi aux pratiques culturelles des Français sous les deux perspectives, à savoir, la culture traditionelle et la culture des masses. Certains que les thèmes ici soumis à notre réflexion sont inépuisables, nous avons cependant conclu sur le role que la France pourra jouer dans le contexte mondial, au sein d’une Europe qui veut, à tout prix, se tenir à 1’écart de 1’hégémonie américaine.
