sujeito, OD, OI, nome predicativo, OBL, adjunto adnominal, aposto e vocativo.
It was defined as the theme of the dissertation "Constituent sentences: metalinguistic competence of Mozambican students at the Samora Moisés Machel High School in Chimoio". The dissertation results from an observation. Students were required to identify the syntactic function of constituents and to select constituents to fill gaps. The exercises were carried out during a Portuguese class with 11th grade students. Most of the answers were wrong, which triggered the development of a survey. In the research we present the typical properties and the tests to identify the syntactic functions of predicate, subject, OD, OI, predicate name, OBL, adjunct adnominal, bet and vocative. More ahead, we speak of the countries where Portuguese is spoken as the official language and the increase of the number of speakers in Mozambique, based on population censuses. According to several studies, fossilization and interference as factors that deteriorate the language are also presented. As a result of these transfers arise agramatic sentences. In the analysis of the collected data of the students, the problems in the identification of the syntactic functions were confirmed, for example, what should be predicated is identified by the student as a direct object, which should be circumstantial complement so is identified as predicate. Also confirmed the problem of constituent selection for filling gaps, was selected, for example, term prepositioned for the position of the subject. According to data collected, most students have the L1 Bantu from where structures are transferred to L2 Portuguese, the speakers reanalyze the L2 structures. For the first confirmation the pedagogical processes would be involved; for second confirmation besides pedagogical processes, is the interference of L1 Bantu in the Portuguese language. For all cases, we proposed the same suggestions for improvement, introducing the constituency tests in the identification of syntactic functions as a better way for the student, for example, to identify the subject whenever the sentence selects a constituent in the pre-verbal position. At the level of filling gaps, with the constituency tests the student would be able, for example, to select a constituent for the direct object position if the constituent is an argument of a transitive verb. |
