A poesia do exílio ovidiano em Bocage

Abstract

Este estudo tem como objectivo tratar as diversas influências que a literatura do exílio ovidiano teve para com a obra de Manuel Maria Barbosa du Bocage, sobretudo no que diz respeito à poesia produzida ou ligada ao período de expatriação na Índia. Os enleios são, assim, diversos, abarcando temas como a despedida, tempestade, desterro, amigos e detractores, saudade, presença avassaladora da morte e, por fim, a poesia, a pena que se une às mãos para que estas lhe moldem a forma retorcida e nem sempre linear, pois as imagens que lhe brotam do pensamento são, também elas, toldadas; contudo, só através dela poderá perpetuar os sentimentos que o acometem, na certeza que esta o recompensará com os louros da celebridade perdurável. O trabalho conclui-se com uma abordagem linguística e estilística comparativa dos dois autores.

The aim of this study is to show the different influences that the ovidian exile literature had on the work of Manuel Maria Barbosa du Bocage, especially on the poetry connected or produced during his exile in India. The connections are numerous and include subjects as the separation, the tempest, the exile, friends and slanderers, the nostalgia, the permanent presence of death, and the poetry, the nib that with the hand shape the twisted form, since the images that flow in his mind are also twisted; however, only through poetry he can perpetuate his feelings, and he knows that poetry will make him up with eternal fame. This study concludes with a linguistic and stylistic perspective comparative with both poets.
