"Nem todos os mulçumanos são terroristas": perceções dos alunos do 5º ano do 2º Ciclo do Ensino Básico

Abstract

Portugal tem se tornado um país bastante atrativo para imigrantes vindos de todas as partes do mundo. Muitas pessoas imigram para melhorar as suas condições de vida, no entanto, algumas não têm opção de escolha e são obrigadas a abandonar as suas casas para sobreviver, sendo uma das consequências a guerra nos seus países. Este Relatório focaliza aqueles que precisam de se refugiar num país desconhecido, nomeadamente, os imigrantes muçulmanos. Importa referir que esta questão emergiu no primeiro semestre do ano 2017/2018, numa turma de História e Geografia de Portugal (HGP), a propósito de comentários de alunos acerca dos muçulmanos (“Todos os muçulmanos são terroristas”). Prendeu-se, então, neste trabalho identificar as perceções de alunos do 5.º ano do 2.º CEB, de uma escola em Aveiro, face à entrada de imigrantes muçulmanos em Portugal e à sua aceitação, para, posteriormente, tendo em conta as suas perceções, os sensibilizar para a problemática atual dos refugiados. Para atingir estes objetivos aplicou-se, no segundo semestre do mesmo ano letivo, numa aula de Português, um questionário aos 20 alunos da mesma turma de HGP do 5.º ano e apresentou-se um vídeo com uma entrevista a uma menina síria refugiada em Portugal. Com a análise dos questionários recolhidos concluiu-se que a maioria dos alunos não revelava perceções negativas sobre os imigrantes muçulmanos, mas verificou-se uma certa confusão sobre alguns conceitos e sobre esta temática, em geral. A visualização da entrevista e o diálogo realizado na sequência, teve como objetivo entender se, de facto, se desconstruíram/reconstruíram as perceções iniciais e ainda consciencializar o grupo para a integração de alunos refugiados. Estas questões são transversais à sociedade e à escola. Portugal precisa de estar preparado para receber e integrar refugiados, tal como o sistema educativo precisa de aprender a lidar com novos públicos, promovendo a sua integração na escola e igualmente na Língua Portuguesa.

Portugal has become a very attractive country for immigrants from all over the world. Many people immigrate to improve their living conditions, however, some have no choice and are forced to leave their homes to survive, one of the consequences of the war in their countries. This report focuses on those who need to take refuge in an unknown country, including Muslim immigrants. It should be noted that this issue emerged in the first semester of 2017/2018, in a class of History and Geography of Portugal (HGP), related to comments made by the students about Muslims ("All Muslims are terrorists"). The aim of this work was to identify the perceptions of 5th grade students of the 2nd CEB, of a school in Aveiro, relatively to the entry of Muslim immigrants into Portugal and their acceptance, and later, taking into account their perceptions, to raise awareness of the current problems of refugees. To achieve these goals, a questionnaire was applied to the 20 students of the same 5th grade HGP class in the second semester of the same year, and a video was presented with an interview with a Syrian refugee girl living in Portugal. With the analysis of the collected questionnaires, it was concluded that the majority of the students did not reveal negative perceptions about the Muslim immigrants, but there was some confusion about the concepts and about this subject in general. The interview visualization and the dialogue carried out in the sequence, aimed to understand if, in fact, the initial perceptions were deconstructed / reconstructed and also to raise awareness in the group for the integration of refugee students. These issues are transversal to society and school. Portugal needs to be prepared to receive and integrate refugees, just as the education system needs to learn how to deal with new audiences, promoting their integration into school and also into the Portuguese language.
