Tradução para a European Patients' Academy on Therapeutic Innovation : participação do doente no desenvolvimento de medicamentos

Abstract

A investigação e desenvolvimento de medicamentos assumem um papel indispensável na Indústria Farmacêutica, uma vez que só é possível obter novos fármacos através deste processo. Estes fármacos aumentam as possibilidades de tratamentos de doenças e sintomas associados. Os especialistas desta área defendem que o futuro da investigação e desenvolvimento de medicamentos passa pelo envolvimento das pessoas com doenças nestes processos. Neste sentido, a plataforma da European Patients' Academy on Therapeutic Innovation (EUPATI), através de uma caixa de ferramentas e de cursos de formação, capacita o público em geral para a participação, e os representantes dos doentes para o envolvimento na investigação. O presente projeto final do Mestrado de Tradução Especializada em Saúde e Ciências da Vida tem como objetivo ajudar a EUPATI na sua missão, ao traduzir parte do material disponibilizado aos dois grupos acima referidos. É elaborado também um glossário dos termos extraídos das traduções e uma reflexão teórica sobre a componente prática da Tradução e da Terminologia.

Medicine research and development plays a crucial role in the pharmaceutical industry, since it is only possible to obtain new drugs by means of this process. These medicines raise the treatment possibilities regarding the diseases and symptoms associated with them. The specialists in this domain believe that the future of medicines research and development or improvement is only possible with the involvement of patients and expert patients in it. To this end, the platform of the European Patients' Academy on Therapeutic Innovation (EUPATI), through the toolbox and training courses, empowers the general public and patients, to participate as well as the patient advocates and be involved in the research. The present translation project carried out in the second year of the Masters Degree in Specialized Translation in the Health and Life Sciences domain has as its main goal to help EUPATI’s mission by translating part of the material that this organisation provides for the two groups mentioned above. It is also develop a glossary with the terms extracted from the text and uses a theoretical framework to reflect on the practical translation and terminology component.
