Constrangimentos à visita a atrações culturais em Ribeira de Pena

Abstract

As atrações culturais constituem componentes relevantes dos destinos, que podem influenciar, em grande medida, a sua competitividade. Contudo, existem ainda diversos constrangimentos que dificultam ou impedem a visita a atrações culturais. Embora os constrangimentos tenham vindo a merecer um crescente interesse por parte dos investigadores em turismo, o número de estudos que analisa os constrangimentos para visitar as atrações culturais é ainda reduzido e não se conhecem estudos empíricos que examinem, de forma abrangente, os constrangimentos para visitar as diversas atrações culturais. A presente dissertação tem como principal objetivo identificar os potenciais constrangimentos para visitar as diversas atrações culturais e analisar os constrangimentos da visita às atrações culturais do concelho de Ribeira de Pena. Pretende-se, não só, perceber a razão pela qual algumas pessoas que visitam o Concelho não visitam este tipo de atrações, mas também identificar estratégias para fomentar a visita às atrações culturais e melhorar a gestão destas atrações, incluindo as atividades e eventos desenvolvidos. Para alcançar estes objetivos foi realizado um estudo empírico resultante da administração de questionários (N=104) a pessoas que estavam a visitar ou já tinham visitado o concelho de Ribeira de Pena. Observa-se que existem ainda consideráveis constrangimentos para visitar as atrações culturais do Concelho. Esta dissertação permitiu verificar que os principais constrangimentos para visitar as atrações culturais de Ribeira de Pena foram constrangimentos intrapessoais como a preferência por outro tipo de atividades e a falta de interesse nas atrações culturais do Concelho, constrangimentos interpessoais como a falta de companhia, mas também constrangimentos estruturais como a falta de informação e conhecimento sobre as atrações culturais do Concelho. Foi ainda possível obter uma melhor perceção sobre segmentos de visitantes do Concelho que possuem diferentes constrangimentos para visitar estas atrações e identificar o que é mais importante fazer para satisfazer as suas necessidades. O trabalho termina com linhas de orientação para aumentar o número de visitantes das referidas atrações, que poderão permitir também aumentar a competitividade deste Concelho.

Cultural attractions are relevant components of destinations that can largely influence their competitiveness. However, there are still several constraints that hinder or prevent the visit to cultural attractions. Although the constraints have earned a growing interest on the part of researchers in tourism, the number of studies analyzing the constraints to visit cultural attractions is still reduced and empirical studies are not known that examine, in a comprehensive way, the constraints to visit the various cultural attractions. This thesis has as main objective to identify the potential constraints to visit the various cultural attractions and analyze the constraints of the visit to the cultural attractions of the municipality of Ribeira de Pena. It is intended, not only to perceive the reasons why some people visiting the municipality do not visit this type of attractions, but also to identify strategies to foster the visit to cultural attractions and improve the management of these attractions, including activities and events developed. To achieve these objectives, an empirical study was carried out resulting from the administration of questionnaires (N = 104) to people who were visiting or had already visited the municipality of Ribeira de Pena. It is observed that there are still considerable constraints to visit the cultural attractions of the Municipality. This dissertation allowed to observe that the main constraints to visit the cultural attractions of Ribeira de Pena were intrapersonal constraints like the preference for other type of activities and the lack of interest in the cultural attractions of the Municipality, interpersonal constraints like the lack of company, but also structural constraints such as the lack of information and knowledge about the cultural attractions of the Municipality. It was also possible to obtain a better perception about segments of visitors of the Municipality who have different constraints to visit these attractions and identify what is most important to do to meet their needs. The work ends with guidelines to increase the number of visitors to these attractions which may also allow to increase the competitiveness of this Municipality.
