Potencialidades do turismo ciclável na Eurocidade Chaves-Verín

Abstract

A associação do turismo à utilização da bicicleta, hoje em dia, demonstra a sua crescente importância, especialmente em países com uma forte cultura da bicicleta. Assim, o turismo ciclável consegue ser uma atividade que possui um grande potencial turístico e de dinamização do território. Neste trabalho, o território em análise é a Eurocidade Chaves-Verín, símbolo pioneiro da cooperação transfronteiriça na Península Ibérica, onde dois municípios de dois países diferentes (Portugal e Espanha) trabalham conjuntamente para reforçar a coesão económica e social nos seus vários domínios. Assim, o presente trabalho propõe-se a identificar quais as potencialidades do turismo ciclável na Eurocidade Chaves-Verín, focando-se em vários pontos: percursos e rotas cicláveis, alojamento e restauração, atividades e eventos, e entidades bike-friendly, tendo a revisão da literatura centrado-se nas temáticas do turismo ciclável e componente transfronteiriça. O trabalho empírico assumiu um carácter qualitativo, envolvendo a análise de conteúdo de entrevistas a entidades conhecedoras do território ou da temática da bicicleta e do seu mercado, com recurso ao software WebQDA, e de brochuras turísticas da Eurocidade Chaves-Verín, de modo a perceber qual a importância dada à componente ciclável pelo território ao seu público. Os resultados revelam existir uma importância percebida pelas entidades competentes para o fenómeno do turismo ciclável, bem como as capacidades que o território tem para a prática do mesmo, no entanto, ainda existem vários caminhos a serem traçados, especialmente na componente do alojamento e restauração e a integração de entidades bike-friendly que têm conhecimento do mercado ciclável.

The association of tourism with cycling nowadays demonstrates its growing importance, especially in countries with a strong bicycle culture. Thus, cycling tourism can be an activity that has a great potential for tourism development and dynamization of the territory. In this work, the territory under analysis is the Chaves-Verín Eurocity, a pioneering symbol of cross-border cooperation in the Iberian Peninsula, where two municipalities from two different countries (Portugal and Spain) work together to strengthen economic and social cohesion in various fields. This work aims to identify the potential of cycling tourism in the Chaves-Verín Eurocity, focusing on several points: cycling routes, bike-friendly: accommodation and restaurants, activities and events, and entities, having the literature review been focused on the themes of cycling tourism and cross-border cooperation. The empirical work was qualitative investigation, involving the content analysis of interviews with knowledgeable entities of the territory or on the theme of cycle tourism, using the WebQDA software, and tourist brochures of the Chaves-Verín Eurocity, in order to perceive the importance given to cycle tourism in the territory. The results show that there is a perceived importance of cycle tourism given by the competent entities, as well as the capacities that the territory has for its practice, however, there are still several paths to be traced, especially in the accommodation and restaurants sectors and the integration of bike-friendly entities that have knowledge of the cycling market.
