Classificação tipológica do jazigo sedimentar das argilas da Cruz da Légua

Abstract

O I.G.M. efectuou um estudo prospectivo na região da Cruz da Légua (Alcobaça), com vista à ampliação de reservas de argilas do jazigo sedimentar aí existente, bem como a sua caracterização de modo a poder-se elaborar um parque de matérias -primas à escala do jazigo, com base na coluna tipológica estabelecida para aquele enchimento argiloso. Foram colhidas 70 amostras nas carotes das sondagens efectuadas e nas frentes dos barreiros em exploração que foram submetidas a análises químicas, mineralógicas e tecnológicas. Os resultados destas análises foram tratados estatisticamente, o que permitiu a redução do número de parâmetros definidores dos lotes encontrados, bem como a racionalização da exploração.

The Geological and Mining Institute of Portugal (I.G.M.) carried out prospective works in the Cruz da Légua region (near Alcobaça) with the purpose of extending the existing clay resources that occurred in the local sedimentary basin. Furthermore, I.G.M. also had in mind the characterization of the existing ceramic clays in order to make possible the organization of a stock of raw materials close to the open pit. This has been possible by the establishment of the typological column of the whole ore deposit. About 70 samples were collected from drilling cores and from clay explorations and analyzed from the chemical, mineralogical and technological point of view. The data obtained was submitted to a statistical study, enabling the reduction of the parameters number defining the established lots. This study also allowed the rationalization of the exploration.
