Novas dimensões simbólicas numa narrativa visual através da realidade aumentada

Abstract

Esta investigação visa contribuir para a compreensão sobre de que forma a Realidade Aumentada (RA) pode ampliar e enriquecer, conceptual e sensorialmente, a experiência tradicional da leitura de um livro infantil ilustrado. Neste contexto, como prova de conceito foi desenvolvido um livro infantil com duas versões do mesmo conto e, por consequência, duas narrativas simbólicas distintas; uma impressa e outra visível a partir da tecnologia de RA, que engloba imagem animada e uma banda sonora, possibilitando mais do que uma leitura da mesma história. Pretendeu-se que a camada de RA aplicada ao artefacto físico criasse uma sinergia com a narrativa impressa, mantendo as melhores características das duas dimensões, física e digital.

This research aims to contribute to the understanding of how Augmented Reality (AR) can magnify and enrich, conceptually and sensorially, the traditional reading experience. This study summarizes the evolution of the augmented narrative from the printing revolution to the era of the screen in which we find ourselves, allowing us to know the antecedents of the augmented books. In this context, a children’s book “The (true) story of the Red Capuchin” was developed, with two versions of the same tale and, consequently, two distinct symbolic layers; One printed and the other from RA technology, which includes a dynamic image and soundtrack, allowing two readings of the same story. It was concluded that in order to create the illusion and magic that RA allows us, it is fundamental to create a synergy between the symbolic layers present, printed and digital; without blurring the printed object and without restricting the RA to the printed information.
