Impacto das acções antropogénicas no comportamento sedimentar do rio Douro

Abstract

Numa altura em que a comunidade científica debate os problemas da erosão e as suas causas, na costa Noroeste portuguesa é apontada a escassez de sedimentos transportados pelo rio Douro e diminuição de areias afluentes à foz do Douro. Este estudo pretende contribuir para dar respostas que possam vir a solucionar, ou atenuar, problemas que advêm do impacto provocado, directa ou indirectamente, pelo Homem. Assim, esta investigação traça como objectivos principais: identificação da tipologia e cronologia das acções humanas sobre o rio; avaliação de variações nos registos do caudal ao longo do tempo, em função das intervenções realizadas; caracterização de trechos do rio (geometria e granulometria dos sedimentos) para quantificação de volumes em transporte, por aplicação de modelos numéricos; avaliação da variação do volume sólido em transporte ao longo do tempo para caracterização da importância relativa de cada tipo de intervenção humana. Num enquadramento de âmbito territorial, este estudo abrange a região da bacia hidrográfica do rio Douro situada em território português, tendo em linha de conta condições de fronteira, como os escoamentos provenientes da parte espanhola da bacia. O Capítulo 1 corresponde a uma introdução, onde se explica qual a motivação que levou à concretização deste estudo. Apresentam-se algumas referências sobre a temática a abordar assim como os objectivos a estudar. No Capítulo 2 faz-se uma caracterização breve sobre a bacia hidrográfica do rio Douro, nomeadamente sobre aspectos da sua fisiografia, orografia e biofísica. No Capítulo 3 identifica-se a tipologia e a cronologia das acções antrópicas exercidas sobre a bacia hidrográfica do rio Douro e sobre as suas linhas de água, bem como a sua interacção com o transporte sedimentar do rio Douro. No Capítulo 4 refere-se como foi feita a análise sobre o comportamento de cada acção humana. É descrita a metodologia seguida para o cálculo do caudal sólido e caracterizada uma secção transversal tipo. No Capítulo 5 procede-se à tentativa de quantificar o volume sólido afluente à foz e determina-se o défice sedimentar referente a cada impacto na perspectiva de atribuir o efeito de cada acção na redução do volume sólido afluente à foz do Douro. Por último, no Capítulo 6 apresentam-se as conclusões deste estudo, bem como algumas considerações finais e ambições futuras.

ABSTRACT: In a height where the scientific community if debate on the problems of the erosion of the Northwest Portuguese coast and its causes, as the dearth sediments carried for the Douro river is pointed, and having a consensus on the cause of this affluent sand reduction to the estuary of the Douro this study do not intend to give answers that can come to solve, or to attenuate, problems that happen of the provoked impact, direct or indirectly, for the Man. Thus, this inquiry traces as objectives main: identification of the typology and chronology of the human actions beings on the river; evaluation of variations in the registers of flow throughout the time, in function of the carried through interventions; characterization of stretches of the river (geometry of the sediments and grains size) for quantification of sediment volumes in transport, for application of numerical models and evaluation of the variation of the solid volume in transport throughout the time for characterization of the relative importance of each type of intervention human being. In a framing of territorial scope, this study it encloses the region of the hydrographical basin of the Douro river situated in Portuguese territory, having online of account border conditions, as the draining proceeding from the Spanish part of the basin. Chapter 1 is an introduction to this study where if the motivation explains which that led to its concretion. Some references are presented on the thematic one to approach as well as the objectives to study. In Chapter 2 a brief characterization becomes on the hydrographical basin of the river Douro, nominated on aspects of its physiographic, topography and biophysical. In Chapter 3 typologies is identified to it and the chronology of the exerted human actions on the hydrographical basin of the Douro river and on its water lines, as well as its iteration in the transport sedimentary of Douro. In Chapter 4 it is mentioned as the analysis on the behavior of each share was made human being. The methodology followed for the calculation of the volume solid and characterized a transversal section is described type. In Chapter 5 it is proceeded the attempt to quantify the affluent solid volume to the estuary and is determined the referring dearth sedimentary to each impact in the perspective to attribute the effect of each share in the reduction of the affluent solid volume to the estuary of the Douro. For last, in Chapter 6 the future conclusions of this study as well as some final considerations and ambitions are presented.
