Artes visuais, educação visual e pensamento crítico: um caminho a percorrer

Abstract

O presente estudo relata um processo de investigação, realizado no âmbito da Prática de Ensino Supervisionada, em Ensino de Artes Visuais no 3º Ciclo do Ensino Básico e no Ensino Secundário, que decorreu na Escola Secundária de Estarreja e contou com a participação de alunos do 3.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico (8.º e 9.º anos). Vive-se numa sociedade que cada vez mais é caraterizada pela rápida mudança de paradigma, que é cada vez mais exigente com os seus cidadãos, esperando deles uma maior competência, especialização, autonomia e proatividade. Estas competências são desenvolvidas pela prática do exercício do pensamento crítico que deverá ser fomentada desde cedo nas crianças. A escola deve ser um local privilegiado, primordial, onde se exercita esse pensamento com a finalidade de ensinar os alunos a serem indivíduos mais completos, cidadãos participativos na sociedade. Esta investigação centra-se na disciplina de Educação Visual, como disciplina promotora, estimuladora, potenciadora de imaginação, criatividade e, consequentemente, de pensamento crítico a partir dos seus conteúdos do currículo nacional, particularmente a comunicação visual, explorando a imagem através do desenho de representação e de ilustração, sempre com a finalidade de incentivar os alunos a questionar e a pensar.

This study is about a process of investigation done in regard of the Practice of the Supervised Teaching, in Visual Arts Teaching in the third cycle of the “Ensino Básico” and in the Secondary level. This study took place in the Secondary School of Estarreja with the participation of the students of the third cycle of the “Ensino Básico” (8th and 9th graders). People live in a society which, more and more, is characterized by the rapid and more demanding paradigm with its citizens, expecting from them higher competencies, specialization, autonomy, and pro-activity. These competencies are developed by the practicing of critical thinking which should be implemented in the children at a very early age. The school must be a privileged and primordial place, where one can exercise that thinking with the main goal of teaching students how to be more complete and participating citizens in society. This investigation is centralized in the subject of Visual Education as a stimulating subject which promotes imagination and creativity and, of course, critical thinking based on its contents listed on the National Educational Curriculum, specially the visual communication, exploring the image through the drawing of illustration with the aim of promoting students to question and think
