Abstract: Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) obtained by the complexation of choline chloride (ChoCI) as hydrogen bond acceptor and hydrogen bond donors such as ethylene glycol (ChoCI-EG 1:2) and glycerol (ChoCI-Gly 1:2) were used as media for the formation of AgCI crystals. Although formation of AgCI crystals was observed in both the solvents but the rate of formation of crystals was faster in ChoCI-EG 1:2 at low temperature (4-5 degrees C). In the crystals, cholinium cations were found to be present with chloride ions bridged with Ag ions resulting generation of 1D network of AgCl2 anions. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
