Abstract: Herewith we have utilized the ability of a choline based deep eutectic solvent (DES) to dissolve DNA and disperse graphene for the synthesis of a Fe3O4 functionalized DNA N-doped graphene hybrid material. N-Doped graphene prepared from graphene oxide and melamine by solar radiation was found to envelop the Fe3O4 functionalized DNA in a sandwich fashion. Attachment of Fe3O4 nanoparticles and N-doped graphene on the DNA structure and long term preservation of the conformation of DNA in the hybrid material was established. The magnetic hybrid material thus generated does not appear to inhibit the growth of mammalian cells in vitro and thus demonstrates their non-toxic nature, which is useful for biomedical applications.
