A tecnologia
Numa segunda
fase é apresentado o sistema domótico B-Live, nomeadamente as interfaces
independente do computador. Nowadays, home automation is an application domain facing strong expansion. The execution of some of the everyday tasks is simplified with the use of home automation systems, thereby increasing the comfort and convenience of occupants. Home automation systems may allow people with functional limitations to have more autonomy and mobility within their homes. The technology used in the home can overcome many of the limitations of those impaired occupants, allowing them to reach a level of independence and freedom that would otherwise not be possible. This document presents a home automation system for people with functional limitations. In a first part, a model of an ultrasound based system to detect obstacles, support the navigation of powered wheelchairs, is discussed. Also, an overview of the technology for wireless personal networks is presented, as they will be the support for these and other systems. In a second part, the B-Live system, a domotic system for qudriplegic persons, will be presented, including the interfaces supported, the features, the architecture and the communications protocol. For this system we developped a new feature, the food dispenser, and we improved the mobile phone interface by making it independent of the computer. These topics will be detailed in the last part of this dissertation. |
