Utilização das diatomáceas na avaliação da qualidade das águas doces

No curso inferior de alguns dos rios pertencentes à bacia hidrógráfica do rio Vouga e em três valas de reconhecida importância para a rega dos férteis terrenos adjacentes, localizaram-se dezoito estações de amostragem que foram, durante cerca de um ano e meio, estudadas com uma periodicidade aproximadamente mensa1. Eighteen sampling sites were located in the inferior courses of some rivers from the river Vouga basin and in three smaller streams (trenches) which are very important for watering the agricultural fertile lands. These sites were studied approximately monthly during about one year and a half. The main aims of this study were to deepen the autoecological knowledge of the diatoms and to test the suitability of some biotic indices, recently modiied in the biological evaluation of freshwater quality from the central-coastal region of Portugal.[...]
