A língua portuguesa no ciberespaço: um estudo com aprendentes mexicanos e portugueses

Abstract

O espaço lusófono contemporâneo é uma complexa construção de identidades, transportando consigo questões da memória e dos símbolos nacionais, que associam o conceito a uma centralidade portuguesa. Apesar destes equívocos, o novo paradigma comunicacional das redes digitais, assegura à Língua Portuguesa (LP) uma posição cimeira como língua de projeção internacional, o que gera implicações económicas, sociais e culturais e que podem condicionar a motivação dos alunos para a sua aprendizagem. Este estudo tem por objetivo apresentar os resultados de uma investigação sobre as perceções que alunos, aprendentes de português como língua estrangeira, e aprendentes de português como língua materna, têm sobre a realidade da lusofonia e o papel do ciberespaço na difusão da LP. A análise dos resultados obtidos permitiu concluir que os aprendentes de Português Língua Estrangeira (PLE) têm um maior conhecimento sobre a lusofonia e o seu espaço geográfico do que os aprendentes de Português Língua Materna (PLM), revelando estes últimos uma visão eurocêntrica da LP. Para além disso, os resultados apontam para o contributo importante das redes digitais na aproximação entre falantes deste idioma e na sua aprendizagem mas, igualmente, para a relevância do desenvolvimento das tecnologias da linguagem em português.

The contemporary lusophone space is a complex construction of identities, carrying with it issues of the memory and national symbols which associate the concept of a Portuguese centrality. Despite these misconceptions, the recent paradigm of digital networks, assures the Portuguese Language (PL) an upper position as a language with international projection, which generates economic, social and cultural implications that can condition students motivation to its learning. The objective of this study is to present the results of an investigation about the perception these students have (learners of Portuguese as a foreign language, and learners of Portuguese as the mother language), in regard to the reality of the lusophony and the role of cyberspace in the diffusion of the PL. Analysis of the gathered data, allowed to conclude that learners of Portuguese as a foreign language have a wider knowledge about lusophony and its geographical space, than the learners of Portuguese as the mother language, the latter revealing an Eurocentric vision of the PL. Furthermore, the results point to an important contribution from the digital networks in the proximity between speakers of this language and their learning, but equally to the relevance of the development of language technologies in Portuguese.
