O efeito dos fatores cognitivos na avaliação subjetiva de imagens sexuais

Abstract

A sexualidade feminina tem sido alvo de vários estudos nas últimas décadas, traduzindo a necessidade de ser compreendida através de um modelo biopsicossocial. Apesar de na literatura já se ter vindo a revelar o papel dos fatores cognitivos no funcionamento sexual feminino, ainda se verifica a escassez de investigações acerca desses fatores ao nível da interpretação de estímulos eróticos. O presente estudo teve como objetivo analisar a relação entre fatores cognitivos (crenças sexuais, sociossexualidade, autoesquemas sexuais e autoestima sexual) e imagens sexuais explícitas, moderadas e românticas avaliadas através de três parâmetros: valência emocional, ativação e excitação sexual. A amostra incluiu 78 mulheres, com idades compreendidas entre os 18 e os 77 anos. Foram utilizados os seguintes instrumentos: Questionário Sociodemográfico, Questionário de Crenças Disfuncionais (QCSD), Subescala Estima Sexual da Escala de Sexualidade (SES), Sociosexual Orientation Inventory (SOI), e Escala de Autoesquemas Sexuais (SSSS). De modo geral, os resultados encontrados mostraram que as crenças sexuais conservadoras, sociossexualidade, autoesquemas sexuais aberto/experiente e franco/direto são preditores significativos da interpretação dos estímulos sexuais. A autoestima sexual não revelou qualquer capacidade preditiva. Este estudo veio contribuir para uma melhor compreensão do impacto dos fatores cognitivos na sexualidade feminina, mais concretamente, na resposta sexual subjetiva das mulheres portuguesas, com eventuais implicações para a intervenção clínica.

In the last decades, female sexuality has been the subject of several studies, reflecting the need to be understood through a biopsychosocial model. Although the literature has already come to reveal the role of cognitive factors in female sexual functioning, there is still a lack of research about these cognitive factors concerning to the interpretation of erotic stimuli. The present study aimed to analyse the relationship between cognitive factors (sexual beliefs, sociosexuality, sexual self-schemas and sexual self-esteem) and explicit, moderate and romantic sexual images assessed by three parameters: emotional valence, arousal, and sexual arousal. The sample included 78 women, aged between 18 and 77 years. Were used the following instruments: sociodemographic questionnaire, Sexual Dysfunctional Beliefs Questionnaire (SDBQ), Subscale of sexual esteem of The Sexuality Scale (SES), Sociosexual Orientation Inventory (SOI), and The Sexual Self Schema Scale (SSSS). Overall, the results showed that conservative sexual beliefs, sociosexuality, open/experienced and frank/direct sexual self-schemas are significant predictors of interpretation of sexual stimuli. Sexual self-esteem showed no predictive ability. This study has contributed to a better understanding of the impact of cognitive factors on female sexuality, specifically, in the subjective sexual response of Portuguese women, with possible implications for clinical intervention.
