In the era of the New Technologies, it is essential to reflect upon their role both at school and in the teaching-learning process. This dissertation addresses the use of the New Technologies in the teachinglearning process, namely in the teaching of the contents of the topic Probability in the school subject “Mathematics Applied to Social Sciences” (MASC). A diversification of strategies together with the use of educational digital resources is crucial to appeal to students who have not successfully been motivated to the study of Mathematics. Only through the stimulation of the zest and interest in learning will students be actively involved in the learning process. Therefore, one of the teacher’s roles is to provide his/her students meticulously selected resources, aimed at promoting the student’s autonomy in accessing knowledge. The teacher is thus expected not only to provide the students available educational resources, but also to create resources that meet the students’ educational needs, a task often made more difficult by the lack of technological training. The first chapter of this dissertation will provide a bief analysis of the importance of the use of technology and its contribution in educational context, as the basis not only of innovative and differentiated teaching methods, but also of autonomous learning in and out of the classroom. The second and third chapters will present a theoretical and scientific framework of the contents taught in Probability, from which the topics explored in the creation of the resources were selected. The fourth chapter will present the educational digital resources which have been created. These consist of a set of multiple choice exercises, in which the questions are parameterized by values or functions and a detailed resolution is provided. They were written in LaTeX, HTML, and Python as this programing language is used in the Sage Mathematics numeric and algebric computational system. The library MEGUA (under development at the University of Aveiro) has also been used. This set of exercises available on the free access SIACUA platform not only broadens the spectrum of exercises, but also provides a new digital resource specifically designed for the subject “Mathematics Applied to Social Sciences”(MASC).
