A pesquisa, fundamentação e
The Practice of Supervised Teaching (PST) related here was conducted throughout the 2015/2016 academic year, as part of the masters’ programme in Music Education, namely the strand of Music Theory, comprising two 4th grade classes and two 1st grade classes in Music Theory, at the Conservatório de Música de Aveiro Calouste Gulbenkian (CMACG). This dissertation consists of the selection and use of traditional Portuguese songs in a classroom context, as a tool for promoting music learning within the discipline of Music Theory. In parallel with the overall aim of this research, which comprises the development of processes of teaching and learning music in a curricular context based on a traditional Portuguese song repertoire, was the desire to promote the students’ interest and curiosity about cultural patrimony and Portuguese music, connecting them through examples of documented collections or with projects and existing practices. Taking into account the research to be undertaken during PST, this research lies within a model of educational action and intervention, particularly focusing on the construction and the application of teaching tools and materials for the classroom. The research, the rationale and the systematization of the theme in the context of questions relating to ethnomusicology and pedagogy constitute the respective theoretical framework. Apart from the taught classes, the PST involved the organization and the realization of various performative and informative extra-curricular activities - such as workshops and an exhibition produced in conjunction with 4th grade music theory students – which are related to my research component. |
