Abstract: | This paper presents an innovative approach to prepare a new class of closed cell reinforced (nano composite) metal foams that synergistically explore stheremarkablepropertiesofbothmetalfoamsand carbon nanotubes. This approach combines colloidal processing (includingfreezegranulationlyophili sation) and powder technology, ensuring there tention of the tubular structureo fCOOH functionalised multiwall carbonnanotubes(MWCNTsCOOH) and their uniform distribution in themetalmatrix.The microstructural analysis reveal ednonagglomerated, welldispersed, stretchedanddirection allyaligned MWCNTswithintheAlmatrixof the foams. These conditions potentiate the reinforcingroleofMWCNTs with Vickersmicrohardnessincrements 4100%. |
