Abstract: | Nesta dissertação é feito o estudo das propriedades térmicas do
In this dissertation the thermal properties of suspended and supported graphene on top of gold, SiO2/Si and quartz substrates are studied using the optothermal Raman thermometry technique and scanning thermal microscopy. The topography characterization by scanning thermal microscopy displayed the presence of graphene with good coverage in all samples and allowed to identify graphene wrinkles over the gold substrate. Regarding the thermal conductivity contrast, the suspended graphene showcased a superior contrast relative to the graphene on top of substrates. In particular, in the case of SiO2/Si and quartz substrates no thermal contrast was obtained except in the rupture areas of the film, pointing to a good coupling between graphene and the substrate. The study by Raman spectroscopy in the regime of low incidence powers, allowed the quantification of the frequency shift of the G (or 2D) band of the Raman spectrum of graphene as a function of temperature. From this analysis the linear thermal coefficient was determined, which is fundamental to the calculation of the thermal conductivity of suspended graphene and graphene on top of gold. The obtained thermal conductivity values of suspended graphene of 3500 ± 650 Wm−1K−1 at 310 K, and 1200 ± 280 Wm−1K−1 at 300 K for graphene supported by gold are in agreement with those reported by the literature until the moment of accomplishment of this thesis. In suspended graphene and graphene on top of gold, the study with incident power (0.1 to 4.4 mW) of the G (and 2D) band frequency was shown to have a linear behavior over the entire power range. The same was not true for the graphene supported on substrates of SiO2/Si and quartz, where an exponential behavior was obtained, indicating a strong interaction with the substrate that resulted in a significant increase of the local temperature. |
