Nowadays we have more awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and its importance for the development of individuals and communities. So that we can live peacefully it is essential that everyone respects and values the difference. From an early age it is important to promote the respect for others and value its importance among children and students. Therefore, the literature for children is a very important tool for all educators and teachers, since it can deal with several issues through the imaginary world, created by the richness of words. This report focuses on a project of research-action entitled "All different… all equal”, developed in a 15 students class of 1st year of the Primary school. The project focused attention on a qualitative methodology of research and action and the aim was to understand how literature for children helps to promote attitudes of respect for the other. It was carried out in three individual sessions, to which was added another shared session with the other internship colleagues and the principal aims were to understand how literature for children allows to raise awareness of intercultural education and to make children conscious of the existence of other cultures. For the evaluation of the activities developed with the children it was performed the analysis of verbal and non-verbal interactions that occurred in the classroom, with the help of video recordings and photographs. After analyzing the data and information collected during the project, we concluded that most of the students got involved in the given tasks and still managed to show attitudes of curiosity about the other and about the difference. The results of the data analysis also show that literature for children is able to stimulate knowledge about the difference and so develop attitudes of respect and value of the "other" realizing that everyone is different, but at the same time equal. With this project we learnt that it is extremely important to work all the issues with children and trying to understand what they like in order to encourage them to learn more and more. We also learnt that literature for children is a very useful strategy to help students become aware of the world contemporary problems and more specifically the importance of respecting and valuing the other.
