abundância, ocorrência mensal e distribuição espacial do zooplâncton numa extensa área
The main aims of this work were to study aspects of the ecology and dynamics of the zooplankton in the Ria de Aveiro. One of the objectives consisted in describing temporal and spatial patterns of distribution of the 125 pm, 335 pm and 500 pm taxocenosis in relation to environmental variation. With this aim the specific composition and diversity of the zooplanktonic communities, as well as the monthly occurrence and spatial distribution of the most important species, were studied over a large area of the Ria and this information was related to water temperature, salinity and chlorophyl-a variations. Dynamic aspects of the zooplankton community in relation to major environmental cycles were also studied. In order to attain this objective, the extension of longitudinal transport of organisms at high and low water of spring and neap tides was evaluated, and the tidal, nychtemeral and lunar dynamics were studied. Vertical profiles of the species distribution were obtained and the effects of the phase of the day, phase of the tide and phase of the moon on the development strategies of the more important species were evaluated (...) |
