With the purpose of improving our understanding of the presence of metal and insulator states in manganites, when the hole doping is less than 50%, as well as the resulting transitions between these two states and the magnetoresistive effect, the effect of dilution induced diagonal disorder on the electronic localization properties of the double exchange model is studied. The study is built upon the analysis of the localization lenght obtained, numerically, through the transfer matrix method in quasi-1d systems. The obtained results show that the effect of substitutional disorder cannot be neglected when describing the magnetoresistive effect and the related metal insulator states. |
