Since the beginning of time, language has always been closely associated with visuals, and through out the centuries its graphic dimension has been quite explored, not only by designers or typographers, but also by the poets themselves. The development of communication design allowed the access to new questions, paradigms, and above all, new perspectives about the symbolic potentialities of the linguistic structure. Deconstructionism proposed a pluralist society and culture, looking to, through the artifact itself, its content, and its diverse relationships with the intervenients, find new ways in the communicative process. That allowed, mainly in the last decade, a constant flow of different but equally valid approaches. This investigation aims to explore the visual dimensions of Fernando Pessoa’s heteronyms, starting from the deconstruction of the processes inherent to the content in order to reach new theoretical, practical and projectual approaches, both in terms of the artifact and the existing relationships between the poet, the designer and the reader. abstract. |
