Free space optics or FSO as it is known, appears as a solution for large data rates and higher bandwidth needed for wireless networks. Since this technology is flexible, effective and low cost compared to existing alternatives in the market technology, quickly aroused the interest of telecommunications companies. The FSO is under investigation for quite some time. While there are still challenges that remain, their relief leads to the possibility of a complementary technology. Among the existing difficulties are problems of alignment between the transmitter and receiver, and atmospheric phenomena that cause attenuation and in the worst case loss of the connection. Throughout this dissertation, it’s done the study of different problems present in FSO connection and analyzes of the behavior of known signals upon the connection. For these studies, different signals like NRZ and DP-QPSK such as TWDM technology are applied and analyzed on a FSO link performance. To analyze situations where practical testing isn’t viable, simulations were used, analyzing BER,SER, EVM and losses of the FSO system. |
