Classificar o património (re)classificando as identidades: a inscrição do Kola San Jon na lista portuguesa do PCI

Abstract

Em outubro de 2013 foi oficialmente publicado no Diário da República Portuguesa o anúncio da inscrição da prática performativa de matriz cabo-verdiana Festa de Kola San Jon no Inventário Nacional do Património Cultural Imaterial (PCI). A classificação do património nas listas nacionais inscreve, habitualmente, um atributo de pertença que faz associar ao país de registo a existência de uma tradição não descontinuada, ancorada no passado, tornando assim legítima a patrimonialização das práticas ou dos saberes classificados. Neste contexto, e tendo em conta a relação de perfil pós-colonial que se estabelece entre Portugal e Cabo Verde, importa perceber de que forma a classificação da Festa de Kola San Jon enquanto património imaterial português constitui também uma ação de reclassificação das identidades em jogo, legitimando a coexistência, a convivência e a construção de um mundo comum entre cabo-verdianos, e entre estes e os portugueses. Este artigo constitui uma proposta de análise sobre os processos que nortearam o transplante para Portugal da prática performativa Kola San Jon, o modo como a sua recontextualização conduziu também a uma ressignificação e, finalmente, interroga a classificação patrimonial enquanto meio para viabilizar a reclassificação identitária.

In October 2013 the Portuguese Official Gazette published the registration of the performative practice Festa de Kola San Jon, of Cape Verdian origin, in the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage (PCI). The inclusion of performative practices in the national list of intangible heritage refers, usually, to expressive behaviours associated with the country of registration by attributes of belonging and also to non-discontinued traditions, anchored in the past. In this context, and taking into account the post-colonial profile of the relation between Portugal and Cape Verde, is important to understand how the classification of Festa de Kola San Jon while Portuguese intangible heritage drives to reclassification of identities of both Cape Verdian and Portuguese. We argue that this procedure is probably a condition to legitimize actions of coexistence, of living together and of building a common world between Cape Verdeans, and between them and the Portuguese. This paper is a draft analysis of three processes: (1) the transplant to Portugal of the performative practice Kola San Jon, (2) how its recontextualization also led to its resignification and, ultimately, (3) how the patrimony classification is also a way of enabling identity reclassification.
