ABSTRACT: The present study is a result of a project under Supervision that has the finality of understanding to what point the use of the inductive or the deductive method, in the teaching of the grammar, influences the apprenticeship of children in Elementary School (Education). This study involved an Elementary Teacher and 9 pupils in the 4th year of Schooling. The aims of this study are: 1- The supervision of the methods of teaching grammar, in an Elementary class (Education); 2- To consider which method of teaching grammar (deductive or inductive) is more appropriate for children of an Elementary School. The gathering of data was the result of an interview to the Teacher of the class and of two worksheets, one following the inductive method and the other following the deductive method, both implemented in the class. The data was processed through the analysis of content and to the elaboration of the graphics and tables. The results of the present study are inconclusive as it was not possible to determine whether the children learned better according to the inductive or the deductive method. The present study suggests that there are many types of reflection and practices to be implemented by different Teachers in multiple contexts. Reflection can open new perspectives in teaching methods and can lead to changes in what it is presently done. The reflection can promote the transformation that is desired and that is possible to do with others. We do not believe that it is possible for someone to be a natural born reflexive teacher or with a special aptitude for reflection. This is something that is only possible to be acquired in our daily practice. To become a reflexive teacher requires an individual formation supervised by someone more experienced than us, in the beginning, who can point us the way of "good-practices". However, the apprenticeships do not end in the initial formation, the conviction that continuous formation along the carrer constitutes, today, both a certainty and a challenge. To be a reflexive teacher, is to be able to face new challenges while being a professional, and to the school as an institution of education and formation. It is suggested what in future studies, more classes and Teachers are analysed. Perhaps it would be relevant to analyse the performance of Teachers with diversified and varied professional experiences.por
