A interpretação do erro e a consciência metalinguística : um estudo com alunos de origem cabo-verdiana

Abstract

Com o presente trabalho pretendíamos recolher informação, por um lado, sobre os desvios na escrita e, por outro lado, sobre a consciência metalinguística dos alunos de origem cabo-verdiana, a frequentar o 3º ou o 4º ano do 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico, de duas escolas, em Setúbal. O corpus analisado é composto por seis textos, escritos a pares, bem como pelo registo áudio de todo o processo de escrita desses mesmos textos. A análise de dados consistiu na interpretação dos erros presentes nos textos e dos comentários metalinguísticos dos alunos. Apesar de todos terem as mesmas origens, apresentaram diferentes níveis de proficiência em LP, a qual se mostrou pelo menos satisfatória, e de domínio do Crioulo, para alguns uma língua pouco utilizada. De um modo geral, constatámos que a maioria dos alunos teve dificuldades na área fonético-ortográfica sobretudo na relação assistemática de fonia/grafia. Tanto para este como para os outros tipos de erro detectados são apontadas várias fontes, nomeadamente a influência do Crioulo, a influência da linguagem oral e as estratégias de comunicação em Língua Portuguesa. A consciência metalinguística dos alunos revelou-se apenas na identificação e corrrecção dos erros, bem como em determinados questionamentos. Os alunos não referiram as razões desses erros, não utilizaram termos linguísticos nas suas verbalizações nem explicitaram regras gramaticias. Encontram-se, assim, na fase epilinguística do desenvolvimento metalinguístico. O levantamento dessas dificuldades e a sua análise poderão constituir uma base de informações para um ensino mais eficaz que visa colmatar as dificuldades desse público.

ABSTRACT: With the following work we meant to gather information not only about the errors in writing but also about the metalinguistic awareness of cape verdian students attending the third and fourth grades of the first cycle of the Basic School of two different schools in the city of Setúbal. The analyzed corpus is composed by six texts, produced in pairs, as well as the audio register of the whole writing process of those texts. The data analyses were based on the interpretation of the detected misspellings of the referred texts and on the metalinguistic comments of the students. Although all have the some origin, they presented different levels of proficiency in Portuguese Language - which was at least satisfactory - and also different levels as far as the domination of Creole is concerned, which was, for some, not much used. Generally speaking, we noticed that most students had difficulties in the area of phonetics and orthography, particularly in the assystematic relation between sound and spelling. These errors as well, as other sorts of errors which were detected, are due to several reasons, namely the influences of Creole, of the oral language and also of the strategies of communication used in Portuguese Language. The metalinguistic awareness of the students was only shown in the identification and correction of the errors, as well as in some specific questions. The students didn’t mention the reasons of those errors and didn’t even use linguistic terms in their explanations. They didn’t also refer to any sort of grammar rules. So, we can say that they are in the epilinguistic state as far as metalinguistic development is concerned. The ensemble of such those difficulties and their analysis can be used as a basis of information for a more effective teaching which intends to finish with the difficulties of this specific group of students.
