Estudos de argamassas com base em cal hidráulica natural e suas aplicações

Abstract

A presente dissertação tem como interesse aumentar o conhecimento dos materiais de construção usados na conservação e reabilitação de edifícios. A necessidade de obras de restauro, aliadas à atual estagnação do mercado de construção nova, leva a que Portugal e toda a Europa acompanhem a ten-dência de reabilitar e conservar os edifícios antigos. Para isso, é imperativo conseguir manter o aspeto e a qualidade da estrutura original, de forma a assegurar a continuidade com o passado, garantindo a compatibilidade de resistências físico-químicas e mecânicas entre as arga-massas de restauro e as antigas, onde um dos problemas da deterioração das estruturas de construção históricas está associado à manutenção e restauro das argamassas. Posto isto, pretende-se estudar três tipos de argamassas, formuladas exclusi-vamente com base em cal hidráulica natural como ligante, verificando se são uma boa aposta para a reabilitação do edificado. Este estudo envolveu uma argamassa de consolidação, que serve para preencher cavidades e imperfei-ções de emparelhamento de alvenaria, uma argamassa de reboco que é apli-cada como camada de enchimento e regularização em suportes antigos con-solidados com a argamassa anterior e uma argamassa de acabamento, que se aplica sobre a camada de reboco e como o próprio nome indica serve de aca-bamento final. Este estudo centra-se na aplicação destas argamassas em suporte de tijolo e na sua caracterização em termos mecânicos, físicos e de outros parâmetros relevantes como a resistência aos sais e ao gelo-degelo que, no todo, permi-tem avaliar as argamassas e comparar as diferenças entre elas. Com os resultados obtidos através dos ensaios efetuados, é feita uma discus-são acerca da aplicabilidade das argamassas em causa num quadro de reabili-tação do edificado.

The main objective of the present dissertation is to increasing the knowledge of the construction materials used in building rehabilitation. The necessity of restoration works allied with the current stagnation of the con-struction market of new buildings lead Portugal and all the Europe to follow the trend of rehabilitation and restoration of existent buildings in need. For that, it is imperative to preserve the aspect and the quality of the original structure to ensure continuity with the past, ensuring the compatibility between the physical, chemical and mechanical properties of the restoration mortar and the existent ones where the deterioration problems of the structures of histori-cal constructions is associated to the maintenance and restoration of mortars. It is intended to study three types of mortars exclusively formulated with base in natural hydraulic lime as binder, to verify if they are a good solution for rehabili-tation. This study involved a consolidation masonry that is used for cavities and imperfections matching of pairing masonry, a masonry coating that is applied as filling layer and surfacing in former supports consolidated with the existent mortar and a finishing mortar that is applied on the coating layer and serves as finishing. This study is centered in the application of these mortars in brick support and in its mechanical and physical characterization and for other important parame-ters as the salts and freezing and thawing resistances which together permit to evaluate the mortars and compare the difference between. With the obtained results based on carried out tests, it is done a discussion about the mortars applicability of the studied mortars in terms of rehabilitation works.
