This internship report describes a study developed in the context of Supervised Pedagogical Practice under the Master Degree in Pre-School Education and First Cycle of Basic Education, having as main objective to investigate and to explore about the place of playing in kindergarten and its importance for the development and learning of the children. In this sense, we have achieved a case study, using the observation and photographic and video registers, trying to capture information about how does the context integrates and values, or not, the children´s play. It was also analysed a set of playing situations, considering some features (for example, levels of involvement, identified interests and development areas or implicit curricular contents) and implications for the pedagogical practice. This work allowed us to conclude that in the studied context, playing isn't properly valued in the pedagogical intervention of the kindergarten teacher, which is reflected in the way how the space, materials and dynamics organization or the installed routines happen. Therefore, the children's play seemed to us somewhat complex and elaborate and to much repetitive. However, we could verify that many curriculum contents emerged from playing and that his careful observation offered valuable leads for the kindergarten teacher intervention. |
