Determinantes das despesas dos participantes em eventos culturais

Abstract

O principal objetivo desta dissertação é contribuir para a investigação em eventos culturais em Portugal, analisando a importância dos eventos no desenvolvimento económico dos destinos, em concreto as despesas turísticas efetuadas pelos participantes. Pretende-se também analisar o perfil dos participantes em eventos culturais e os seus padrões de consumo e construir um modelo explicativo dos fatores que determinam a variação das despesas realizadas pelos participantes em eventos culturais. De forma a alcançar todos os objetivos propostos para esta dissertação, procedeu-se a uma revisão de literatura relativa aos eventos e aos principais impactes económicos dos eventos. Foi também alvo de análise a literatura sobre as despesas efetuadas no domínio do turismo e no caso em concreto dos eventos. Para a realização do estudo empírico foi aplicado um inquérito por questionário aos participantes do evento cultural Terra dos Sonhos. Através da aplicação do inquérito por questionário e da análise estatística desses dados foi possível determinar o perfil dos participantes no evento cultural em estudo e os seus padrões de consumo. A análise dos dados permitiu também a construção de um modelo através do qual foram identificados os fatores que influenciam as despesas no evento em estudo, nomeadamente as horas de viagem dos participantes desde o local de residência até ao evento, as motivações para a participação no evento e as emoções.

The main objective of this dissertation is to contribute to the research in cultural events in Portugal, analyzing the importance of events in the economic development of destinations, in particular the tourism expenditure made by the participants. It is also intended to analyze the profile of cultural events’ participants and their consumption patterns and build an explanatory model of factors that determine the variance of expenditures of cultural events’ participants. In order to achieve all the objectives proposed for this dissertation we proceeded to a literature review regarding events and their main economic impacts. Expenditures in tourism were also a subject of literature review, specifically the case tourism events. For the accomplishment of the empirical study, a questionnaire survey was undertaken to the participants of the cultural event of Terra dos Sonhos. Through the application of the questionnaire survey and statistical analysis of the data, it was possible to determine the profile of the participants in the cultural event under study and their expenditure patterns. The analysis of this data made if possible to build a model in order to identify the factors that influenced the expenditures in this event, including participants’ travel time from the place of residence to the event, the motivations to participate in the event and emotions.
