Plataforma Web 2.0 para registo e partilha de informação sobre viagens

Abstract

As viagens de longo curso são uma prática cada vez mais comum na nossa sociedade, o que corresponde à previsão da Organização Mundial do Turismo (OMT) que acredita num crescimento médio anual de 3,3% do turismo internacional até 2030. No que respeita à utilização da Internet, tem existido também um crescimento ao nível mundial; exemplo disso são os dados apurados pela Internet World Stats onde se pode constatar um crescimento de utilizadores de internet de 566.4 % entre 2000 e 2012. O objetivo desta dissertação é a conceção, prototipagem e validação de uma aplicação web que permita aos utilizadores registarem informação (itinerário, destinos, escalas, meios de transporte, entre outros detalhes) sobre as viagens que efetuaram, permitindo, posteriormente, recuperar essa informação de acordo com critérios de pesquisa flexíveis, bem como partilhá-los com outros membros da rede social/comunidade constituída por todos os utilizadores da aplicação. O presente trabalho focou-se nos seguintes aspetos: identificação das aplicações disponibilizadas na Web para o registo de viagens, identificação das funcionalidades que uma aplicação deste tipo deve possuir que constituam uma mais-valia em relação às já existentes, identificação dos requisitos funcionais que a aplicação deve ter, e implementação e validação da aplicação com as funcionalidades identificadas. Os resultados obtidos neste estudo permitiram confirmar o interesse de uma aplicação web para o registo e recuperação online de informação sobre viagens realizadas, bem como as opções adotadas para a inserção e recuperação dos dados relevantes sobre cada viagem. Finalmente são apontadas sugestões para possíveis investigações futuras nesta área, decorrentes dos resultados obtidos e das limitações subjacentes ao estudo realizado.

Long course travels are becoming a common practice in our society, leading the world tourism organization (WTO) to believe that until 2030 there will be an annual average growth of 3.3% in the international tourism. As far as the internet usage is concerned, there’s also been a worldwide increase, as an example, the Internet World Stats forecasts an increase of internet users of 566.4%, between 2000 and 2012. This dissertation’s objective is the design, prototyping and validation of a web application (app) that allows the users to register information (itinerary, destinies, scales, transportation, amongst other details) about the trips, allowing, afterwards, to recover that information according with flexible searching criteria, as well as sharing it with other members from the social network/community built by all app users. The present dissertation has focused on the following aspects: review of similar app available on the web, study of the functionalities that an app of this kind should possess that constitute a benefit comparing to the already existing ones, identification of the operational requirements that the app should fulfill, and implementation and validation of a prototype with the identified characteristics. The results obtained in this study allowed confirming the usefulness of a web app to the registry and online recovery of data about realized trips, as well as the options adopted in the prototype for the relevant data insertion and recovery operations for each trip. Finally, some suggestions are discussed for possible future research in this field, resulting from the results obtained and the underlying limitations to this study.
