Doença de Machado-Joseph : tradução e terminologia

Abstract

O presente projeto de tradução insere-se no âmbito da saúde e ciências da vida, no domínio específico da neurologia, sendo o corpus escolhido inteiramente constituído por textos científicos sobre a Doença de Machado-Joseph. Tratando-se de uma patologia rara e inicialmente circunscrita ao universo português, a investigação desenvolvida sobre a Doença de Machado-Joseph encontra-se “fixada”, em parte, em português. Pretendeu-se, através deste projeto, colmatar a escassez de produção textual em língua francesa, propondo a tradução de alguns dos textos científicos relevantes sobre a Doença de Machado- Joseph, contribuindo, assim, para uma maior divulgação dessa patologia, em língua francesa. Surgiu naturalmente a necessidade de se elaborar uma base de dados terminológica, dado que a linguagem técnica utilizada é de primordial importância para a divulgação da investigação sobre a doença. No presente Relatório, propomos uma reflexão teórica e uma análise crítica sobre as diferentes etapas do trabalho desenvolvido.

This translation project falls within the domain of the health and life sciences, specifically in the field of neurology, and the corpus we selected is composed entirely of scientific texts on the Machado-Joseph Disease. Since this is a rare condition and initially limited to the Portuguese universe, the research undertaken on the Machado-Joseph disease is “registered” essentially in the Portuguese language. Through this project, we sought to lessen the shortage of textual production in the french language in this field, by proposing the translation of some of the relevant scientific literature on the Machado- Joseph disease into french, thus contributing towards greater awareness of this condition. The need to develop a terminology database became evident, given that the technical language used for the dissemination of research on the disease is of the utmost importance. In this Report, we present a theoretical reflection and critical analysis of the different stages of the work that was carried out.
