Educação do olhar no ensino básico : para uma aprendizagem significativa

Abstract

A omnipresença da imagem na sociedade contemporânea vem contribuindo desde há muito para a contaminação e caracterização dos saberes no âmbito da cultura-espectáculo e da cultura visual. Face ao crescimento da informação e à multiplicidade de suportes e linguagens, entendemos que a educação do olhar representa hoje uma possibilidade válida na abordagem de práticas pedagógicas significativas. O objectivo deste estudo consiste na demonstração da pertinência da inclusão de uma efectiva educação do olhar nas práticas e pressupostos da Educação Visual. Sabemos que a construção de significados exige, quer do produtor quer receptor, um olhar demorado de consideração, uma experiência de ver pelo olhar. Um olhar que confronte imagens e palavras, sentimentos e conhecimentos. Deste modo, representar visualmente não constitui somente substituir uma coisa ausente por uma presente, que remete para ela, mas uma discursividade, uma realidade que seja detentora de sentido para alguém. Esta concepção compreende o olhar como acção de um indivíduo que pode e quer interpretar, mas também criar ou fruir, significados, num diálogo pleno e consciente. Para o estabelecimento desse diálogo, no complexo mundo actual, a livre-expressão e o desenvolvimento de habilidades, ainda dominantes na Educação Visual, afiguram-se insuficientes. Assim, partilhando da convicção de que se o olhar é construído é preciso que este seja objecto de ensino, pretendemos: Definir a natureza do conceito olhar, numa perspectiva histórica, filosófica e poética. Analisar o Currículo e o Programa do Ensino Básico, no que se refere à Educação Visual, para neles descortinar intenções relacionadas com o olhar e realizar uma observação de carácter empírico em meio escolar.

ABSTRACT: The omnipresence of the image in nowadays society has contributed to the contamination and description of the understanding of the cultural spectacle and the visual culture. Bearing in mind the increase of information and the various supports and languages, it is our understanding that the education of the look nowadays represents a valid possibility as far as significant pedagogical practices are concerned. This study wants to show the importance of including an effective education of the look in the practices and ideologies of the subject of Arts. It is our understanding that the construction of meaning demands, both from the producer and the receptor, a thorough look of consideration, an experience of seeing through looking, a look which confronts images and words, feelings and knowledge. Therefore, representing visually is not only replacing one absent thing for a present one, which refers to it, but a kind of discourse, a reality which has a meaning to someone. This concept portrays the look as an action of a person who can and wants to infer, but also create and enjoy meanings, in a fulfilled and conscientious dialogue. In order to reach this dialogue in our complex world, a freeexpression and development of capacities, still dominant in the subject of Arts, is not enough. Considering that if the look is constructed, it is essential that it turns to a purpose of teaching, our aim is to: Define the nature of the concept look, from a historical, philosophical and poetic perspective. Analyze the curriculum of basic education, as far as the subject of Arts is concerned, in order to discern intentions related to the look and carry out an empirical observation in a scholar environment.
