Comunicação aumentativa e alternativa: o caderno de comunicação

Abstract

Tendo em conta o princípio da escola inclusiva, qualquer professor poderá ter nas suas turmas, alunos que necessitem de um Sistema Aumentativo e Alternativo de Comunicação para se fazerem entender. É sobre esta temática que irá incidir este trabalho: temos um aluno, do sexo masculino, com 12 anos de idade, portador de Síndrome X Frágil, com limitações acentuadas a nível da linguagem expressiva, que necessita de um sistema de ajuda para se fazer entender. Foi com base nesta realidade que foi planificada uma intervenção, visando proporcionar ao aluno o acesso à comunicação e linguagem através da implementação de um caderno de comunicação, que favorecesse o desenvolvimento da linguagem expressiva, melhorasse o seu desenvolvimento cognitivo e reduzisse a frustração, proporcionando-lhe bem-estar emocional e aumentando a aprendizagem e o seu desenvolvimento global. Podemos concluir que os ganhos foram significativos para o sujeito em estudo; no entanto, é importante que a utilização de sistemas aumentativos e alternativos de comunicação não fique restrito a um só contexto, mas seja estendido a todos aqueles em que a criança participa.

Taking into account the principle of inclusive school, any teacher can receive in her classes, students who need a System of Augmentative and Alternative Communication for making themselves understood. This is the focus of the present work: we have a student, male, 12 years old, boy, with Fragile X Syndrome and severe limitations of expressive language, who requires a support system to make himself understood. Facing this reality, educational intervention was planned in order to provide the student the access to communication and language through the implementation of a communication notebook, which facilitates the development of expressive language, improves his cognitive development and reduces frustration by providing emotional well-being and thus increasing his learning and global development. We can conclude that the gains were significant for the student; however, it is important that the use of augmentative and alternative systems of communication is not restricted to one context, but to all those in which the child participates.
