| pt |
dc.description.abstract | The teaching of Mathematics, which is traditionally a subject at which students tend to be least successful at, is a subject which can greatly contribute towards the resolution of many everyday problems. The strong connection between science and technology, used on a daily basis in schools, is also the basis for the acquisition and consolidation of knowledge, which is essential to the students’ acquisition of competencies. The problems of Linear Programming offer the possibility of assessing students’ aptitude in finding, through Mathematics and by using analytical geometry the appropriate method of presenting, problem solving and interpreting solutions and as decision making within a realist context. The aim of this work is to identify and describe the difficulties faced by, a class of students in the twelfth year of a professional/vocational course, in completing a task which involved resolving problems of Linear Programming. It also aims to present fundamental theory on this theme as well as to explore computer resources which can be used in a classroom environment. | pt |
