abstract: The usual exponential approximation for ultraviolet UV absorption in optical fibers could not fit the attenuation coefficient over a broad spectral range. As the UV absorption spectrum is a result of electronic transitions, we propose a Lorentzian function to model this contribution. Experimental results show a good agreement.
