Representações do discurso no autismo

Abstract

O presente trabalho propõe-se a analisar as formas de representação do discurso no Autismo, designadamente o discurso directo e o discurso indirecto, tendo em consideração as limitações ao nível da “teoria da mente”, referidas pela bibliografia. Para tal, procedeu-se à comparação do desempenho de crianças com este diagnóstico e de crianças sem patologia, em tarefas da seguinte natureza: preenchimento de balões de banda desenhada e transformação do discurso directo para o discurso indirecto. Dos resultados obtidos, é possível concluir que as crianças com Autismo apresentam maiores dificuldades em transpor discurso directo para discurso indirecto. Mantém-se igualmente a hipótese de maiores lacunas também ao nível do preenchimento dos balões de banda desenhada, no entanto os resultados obtidos não permitem confirmá-la.

The aim of this research is to analyse the different modes of speech representation in Autism discourse, namely direct and indirect speech, considering the constraints on the “theory of mind”, referred in bibliography. Two informant groups were studied, one constituted by children diagnosed with this pathology and the other by children with no pathology. Tasks performed by the two groups were compared. These included: filling cartoon balloons, and transposing direct to indirect speech. From the results obtained, we conclude that children with Autism diagnosis present more difficulties in making the transposition from direct to indirect speech. The hypothesis that they also present more difficulties in filling the balloons remains to be proven, since the results of our study were not conclusive in this task.
