A emigração portuguesa e as políticas migratórias europeias

Abstract

Neste trabalho, propusemo-nos a analisar a emigração portuguesa entre as décadas de 1960 e 2000, com especial atenção para os dados após 1991, ano em que Portugal assinou o Acordo de Schengen. Para percebermos as mudanças que ocorreram na emigração portuguesa ao longo das décadas, estudamos as políticas migratórias na União Europeia e avaliamos a sua influência nas novas características dos emigrantes portugueses.

ABSTRACT: In this paper, we proposed to examine the Portuguese emigration between the 1960s and 2000s, with special attention to the data after 1991, when Portugal signed the Schengen Agreement. To understand the changes that occurred in the Portuguese emigration over the decades, we studied the migration policies in the European Union and assess their influence on the new features of Portuguese emigrants.
