Descobrindo as estórias que fazem a história do Bairro de Santiago : idosos e crianças à conversa

Abstract

No processo de construção da sociedade, consideramos ser importante que as pessoas idosas e as crianças participem ativamente. Neste sentido, torna-se imperativo juntá-los para que deste encontro intergeracional resulte a oportunidade de se fazerem ouvir numa sociedade que os considera socialmente frágeis e incapazes. Assim sendo, tendo como participantes um grupo de idosos e outro de crianças, ambos residentes no bairro de Santiago, este projeto teve como objetivo central contribuir para a valorização das experiências de vida, dos saberes e das opiniões destes atores sociais, colocando-os em situação de interação e de diálogo sobre a vida no bairro. A metodologia de investigação foi inspirada na investigação-ação participativa. Os recursos e técnicas de investigação principais foram as entrevistas exploratórias, as notas de campo e focus group. No desenvolvimento do projeto, na sequência das sessões com os grupos e dos encontros intergeracionais, descobriram-se histórias do bairro através da partilha das memórias das pessoas idosas e das crianças. Esta partilha culminou com a construção de uma carta dirigida à autarquia, na qual os participantes manifestaram as suas preocupações e sugestões relativamente ao bairro, ampliando as suas vozes, usualmente silenciadas.

At the process of construction of the society, it is extremely important that old people and children actively participate. In this sense, it becomes imperative to get them together so that from this intergenerational meeting can result the opportunity for them to make themselves listen in a society that usually considers them fragile and incapable. Therefore, having as participants a group of old people and other group with children, both residents at “Bairro de Santiago”, this project had the main goal to contribute to the valorization of the experiences of life, knowledge and the opinions of these social actors, through the opportunity to interact and dialogue about the life at the “bairro”. The method used in this investigation was inspired by the participatory action research. The research resources and technics were exploratory interviews, field notes and focus group. Along the development of the project and the sessions with the groups and the intergenerational meetings, different histories of the “bairro” were discovered through the sharing of the memories of old people and children. From this process resulted the construction of a letter for the city council, in which all participants showed their preoccupations and suggestions related to the “bairro”, which allowed them to expand their voices, usually silenced.
