Rafael Bluteau e o Vocabulario Portuguez, e Latino: teoria metalexicográfica, fontes e recepção

Abstract

Latino (1712-1728) de Rafael Bluteau, e nele se concede particular destaque à tipologia da obra, fontes informadoras, técnica lexicográfica e recepção. Apontam-se os aspectos do percurso biográfico de Bluteau que permitem delinear o contexto de produção da obra lexicográfica e a expectativa de recepção; a reflexão metalinguística que aborda temáticas pertinentes para a dicionarística; a caracterização da obra expressa pelo autor; os traços tipológicos do modelo de dicionário universal e dicionário bilingue, e o modo como estas vertentes se conjugam, à luz de uma concepção que admite a fusão de modelos diversificados. Propõe-se uma análise do processo de selecção e organização da nomenclatura, tendo em consideração o património lexicográfico português e o fundo informativo à disposição de Bluteau, seguindo-se uma análise das diversas categorias informativas presentes na estrutura dos artigos. O estudo em torno da recepção destaca a importância do Vocabulario como fonte lexical e informativa no período de transição para a dicionarística monolingue do português.

The subject of this study is Rafael Bluteau’s Vocabulario Portuguez, e Latino (1712-1728), with an emphasis on the typology of the work, sources, lexicographical technique and the work’s reception. The chief concerns refer to the characterization of the work as the author conceived it, the typological traits both of the universal and of the bilingual dictionaries, as well as the manner in witch the two forms conjugated. It is also within the scope to make an assessment of the selection and organisation of the nomenclature, within the context of the Portuguese lexicographical patrimony and of the informative sources Bluteau had at his disposal. This assessment is complemented with an examination of the various information categories present in the structure of the articles. The concluding part takes into consideration the reception of the Vocabulario as a privileged lexical and informative source in the transitional period leading to monolingual dictionaries.
