Turismo literário e redes de negócios: passear em Sintra com os Maias

Abstract

Pode a construção de itinerários literários incentivar a criação de redes de negócios, de modo a estimular a economia de um local? Reúne Sintra as condições para a criação de um itinerário turístico-literário em rede em torno da obra Os Maia de Eça de Queirós? São estas as questões que subjazem a esta dissertação. Para lhes dar resposta, recorreu-se a revisão bibliográfica, recolha de best practices, inquérito por entrevista semi-directiva a representantes das entidades a integrar na rede e análise do conteúdo das entrevistas, sendo estes dados compilados numa análise SWOT. As best practices recolhidas sugerem que os itinerários literários têm potencial turístico e económico considerável. Os entrevistados, apesar de mencionarem alguns obstáculos à implementação do itinerário, consideram-no sobretudo como algo vantajoso. A análise SWOT aponta para a existência de condições favoráveis para a implementação de um itinerário turístico-literário em Sintra. Por fim, é apresentada a proposta de criação do itinerário referido. São propostos três pacotes dirigidos a três segmentos diferentes e oferece-se ainda a possibilidade de percorrer o itinerário de forma independente. Calcula-se que o projecto possa gerar receitas significativas ao nível local, não só ao nível do sector do alojamento e da alimentação e bebidas, mas também ao nível do património e da cultura. Sugere-se o alargamento deste itinerário de modo a envolver outros locais associados a Eça de Queirós, bem como a realização de estudos de modo a verificar os impactes económicos decorrentes da implementação do projecto. O Turismo Literário é uma área ainda pouco estudada ao nível académico, nomeadamente no que concerne a associação entre Literatura e impactes económicos, pelo que se sugere o aprofundamento de estudos nestas áreas.

ABSTRACT: Can the creation of literary tours stimulate the development of business networks, so as to stimulate local economy? Does Sintra gather the required conditions for the building of a literary route round the places mentioned in the The Maias, Eça de Queirós’s masterpiece? These are the questions that underlie this dissertation. In order to answer them, several research methods were used: bibliographical review; best practice analysis; inquiry by semi-directive interviews to representatives of the entities to include in the network; and content analysis. These data were listed in a SWOT analysis. The best practices analysed suggest that literary tours have a considerable tourist and economic potential. Despite mentioning some obstacles to the implementation of a tour of this kind, the interviewed consider this project an asset both for their organisation and the destination. Hence, the SWOT analysis presents favourable results regarding the implementation of a literary tour in Sintra. Finally, the tour proposal is put forward. Three packages targeted at three different segments are presented. Support for the independent tourist is also taken into account. It is estimated that this project might generate significant income at the local level, not only in the accommodation and food and beverage sectors, but also in the cultural heritage sector. In the future, the tour could be further developed in order to encompass other places associated with Eça de Queirós. Further research on the economic impacts of the project is recommended. Moreover, literary tourism is a sector not yet thoroughly studied, especially concerning the association between literature and economic impacts. Therefore, the deepening of studies in this field is suggested.
