A construção de pontes para um entendimento real : uma experiência em contexto espanhol língua estrangeira

Abstract

A proximidade física e linguística de Portugal e Espanha condiciona a que a aprendizagem da língua e cultura espanholas seja, muitas vezes, encarada pelos alunos como um simples tradução da sua língua materna e consequente desvalorização das diferenças culturais existentes entre estes dois países. Mais do que isso, a falta de relevo dado à sociolinguística, a língua em uso no seu contexto real, leva a que não se dê a devida importância a estas questões, mesmo depois de devidamente explicitadas no QECR, com a agravante de vivermos em UE, com tudo o que daí advém. O presente projeto de investigação pretende mostrar a possibilidade de trabalhar a competência sociolinguística no contexto da aula ELE, através de várias atividades que levem os alunos a exercitar na prática algumas questões, levando-os a consciencializarem-se sobre o peso destes elementos na aprendizagem de uma língua estrangeira, sem prejuízo das demais competências trabalhadas numa unidade didática. A análise dos dados obtidos através de diferentes métodos e instrumentos mostra que é possível aumentar a sua consciencialização sobre a componente sociolinguística e, por outro lado, melhorar a sua competência sociolinguística prática para serem mais capazes de lidar com situações concretas.

Portugal and Spain’s physical proximity leads students, in many cases, to face the learning of Spanish language and culture as a mere translation from their native language, and to a subsequent depreciation of the cultural differences between these two countries. Moreover due to the lack of relevance given to sociolinguistics, language use in a real context, those questions are not being taken seriously enough, even after being duly explained in the Common European Framework of Reference of Languages (CEFR). This is even more serious when considering the fact that we are part of the EU with all the aspects this reality involves. The present investigation project intends to display the possibility to work with the sociolinguistic skill in the ELE classroom context. Through several activities, students are lead to raise awareness of these elements while learning a foreign language, notwithstanding the other skills dealt within a teaching unit. Data analysis, obtained through different instruments and methods, shows it is possible to increase sociolinguistic awareness and, at the same time, improve practical sociolinguistic skills in a way which enables students to deal with real-life situations.
