A outra face de Deus em "Ventos do apocalipse" de Paulina Chiziane

Abstract

Este trabalho propõe-se, a partir do romance Ventos do Apocalipse de Paulina Chiziane, a destacar a outra face de Deus. Efectivamente, o romance aborda a apatia e a indiferença de Deus perante as múltiplas calamidades que assolam o povo da aldeia de Mananga, seguida da não aceitação da tal indiferença por parte dos homens, os quais tentam despertá-lo do sono secular com rezas e batucadas em rituais de Mbele. Observa-se também, neste romance, um cruzar antagónico de usos e costumes: os mais velhos, personagens que tendem a voltar aos seus usos e costumes, provado que depois de se quebrarem provocam a apatia e a ira de Deus; e os mais novos vêm a cultura actual como um processo dinâmico que não dá lugar à regressão. O corpo da narrativa é correspondente ao corpo de um país atribulado por calamidades naturais as quais são agravadas pela guerra civil da década de 80. Nele estão depositadas as memórias desse período marcado por hostilidades e privações de múltiplas evoluções e momentos.

This work, from the novel Ventos do Apocalipse by Paulina Chiziane, intends to highlight the other side of God. In fact, the novel addresses the apathy and indifference of God in the face of multiple disasters that afflict the people of the village of Mananga, then the non-acceptance of such indifference by the men who try to awaken Him from secular sleep with praying and drumming in Mbelele rituals. This novel also observes the antagonistic crossing of customs: the older people, those that tend to return to costums, testified that after breaking them, the apathy and wrath of God is provoked; and the younger people that see the current culture as a dynamic that does not lead to regression. The body of the story corresponds with the body of a country troubled by natural disasters which are exacerbated by the civil war of the 80`s. within it are memories of that period marked by hostility and deprivation of development and moments.
