This work aimed to evaluate the anaerobic biodegradability of a wood effluent produced in furniture industry and determine operative values of several variables, leading to optimization of the biological degradation process. An effluent from booth paint and varnishing was used. To achieve the suitable conditions to degradate this effluent different operational conditions were tested: organic loading rate, flow rate and temperature. The assays were performed in UASB reactor with effluent recirculation in a closed and monitored circuit, for methane production and organic matter removal. The anaerobic biodegradability of the effluent was 68%. The methanisation efficiencies of the removed COD were over 80%, when applied the optimal conditions determined: organic load of 1 gCQOtotal/L, flow rate of 0,25 L/h and operational temperature of 35°C. |
