O espaço e tempo da vídeo-arte

Abstract

Com o desenvolvimento dos meios técnicos de representação, e a sua consequente utilização, introduzem-se novos elementos no debate e contexto artístico. A utilização dos meios audiovisuais e das novas tecnologias de comunicação introduziram inúmeros aspectos conceptuais e estéticos relacionados com novas questões de percepção. Visto como parente do cinema e da televisão, pela partilha a mesma linguagem, a vídeo-arte torna-se um espaço de experimentação formal e conceptual deste tipo de imagem. A apropriação por parte dos artistas da imagem em movimento pressupõe em especial a consciência de elementos de espaço e tempo dela decorrentes, que implicam também uma nova abordagem e linguagem estética. Assim, interessou-nos identificar noções de espaço e tempo que envolvem a imagem em movimento da vídeo-arte para a construção de um discurso artístico, bem como as questões que se prendem ao espaço de exposição deste tipo de obra, hoje claramente encarado como mais um elemento a ter em conta na cultura artística pós-modernista.

ABSTRACT: With the development of technical media of representation and its consequent use, new elements appear on the debate and artistic context. The use of audiovisual tools and new technologies of information brought several conceptual and aesthetic aspects related to new perception concepts. Seen as a relative of cinema and television, for sharing the same language, video art becomes a space for formal and conceptual experimentation for this type of image. The artist appropriation of moving images presupposes in particular the awareness of space and time elements that emerge, which also implies a new aesthetic approach and a new aesthetic language. Therefore we were interested in identifying space and time notions which surround the moving image from video art to the construction of an artistic speech, as well as questions related to the exhibition space of this kind of work, faced nowadays as another element to acknowledge on the post-modern artistic culture.
