ABSTRACT: Our study aims to test the effectiveness of differential projective test DPDC, regarding the need to evaluate the possibility of a child have (or not) the target of child abuse. That is, the test DPDC may be a valid instrument to evaluate the impact of psychological abuse and the child's ego defence? Given this problem, we conducted a quantitative study, ex post facto, using a convenience sampling of 32 children aged between 6 and 10 years, with the objective to check the graphic indicators of child abuseof children, check whether the graphic signs of DPDC that predict the child abuseare the same as those in the literature review and raise the curiosity of the practitioners of science on the test in question Graphic Design (DPDC). We test the following hypotheses: The graphic symbols (pressure, ponds of water and clouds) of the test DPDC will differ between the clinical group and the control group; there are significant differences between the clinical group and the control group for the symbolic element pressure-tension environrnent (rain);there are significant differences between the clinical group and the control group on the sym bolic element of the ego-protection (umbrel1a);the test discriminates the egoprotection mechanisms between the two groups. Our results confirmed the hypothesis 1 related only to 'pressure', provide us with a statistical marginal difference for the element 'rain' (hypothesis 2), but not proved the third and fourth hypothesis. However, for the third hypothesis there is a statistically acceptable association (V Cramer). These results may question the validity of the test. Although without statistical inferential analysis criteria, those show a marked feature strong and very strong (pressure) on the drawings in clinical group, while the controls showed a trace of medium and strong. The clinical participants mainly marked the graphical elements suggestive of pressure / stress of the environment or does not draw rain, while in controls to signal the normal rainfall is more frequent. In the group of clinical subjects is more marked no ego-protection mechanisms, with protections in excess and pathological protections, and in the group of controls there is appropriate ego-protections and act, but there are a greater number of subjects (as in group flagged) with inadequate ego-protections. The clinical participants also show a rnarked tendency to use the regression, inhibition, and the manic ego-protections, while the controls use mainly the repression and isolation. The small number of participants allocated to two groups, crossing with 2 or more categories of different variables, despite the use of nonparametric analysis, ineffective and perhaps make the analysis invalid "inferential" in most cases, cannot allow us to put into question the validity of this evidence only by statistical test criteria. Regarding hypothesis 4 on the mechanisms of protections, although neither the V Cramer be substantive, and about the tendency to use the regression, inhibition, and the manic processes by clinical people, while using the controls on the repression and isolation, it is supported by the literature on this and other evidence as well as psychoanalytic theory behind. In short, although not devalue the rnassive evidence that condemns the projective tests as invalid, unreliable and possibly based on false assumptions, we also account of recent research in this area. Moreover, this test should never assert itself as a rnethod of diagnosis of medical conditions, especially in forensic psychology, but as supplementary evidence to clinical evaluation in which the interview and data collection to prevent false memories. Since you have in mind that this is an additional proof of evaluation, the test DPDC will analyze and interpret significant resources and analysis of the overall content and graphics pressure, rain, umbrella, walking stick the hat-of - rain, pools of water, clouds and ego-protection mechanisms, may be useful to find evidence of this, signaling the hostile environment, as well as anxiety in children suffering from ill-treatment. In future, our purpose is substantially increasing the sample in order to use more powerful statistical tests, ensuring its mathematics validity, determining also the concurrent validity (compared with other projective graphic tests with a best empirical evidence) and controlling potential confounding variables such as cognitive development (eg the Raven Progressive Matrices).
